Stuart Jones
Stuart Jones is a ‘plein air’ landscape painter working in oils. He finds working outdoors from nature to be the most rewarding way to
capture light effects and life as it happens. Every brush stroke is of the moment, ensuring an immediacy and vitality to his impressionistic
paintings.
“I feel most connected to the landscape when I have a brush in my hand. Painting what I see is most meaningful to me and a constant source of excitement.”
Stuart holds an MA in Fine Art from Newcastle University and a PGCE in Art Education from Northumbria University. He has recently held a solo exhibition 'The Painted Coast: Tyneside' at Spanish City in Whitley Bay and was a finalist winner in the Weardale Plen Air Painting Festival in 2025 and 2026. Stuart is a founding member of the outdoor painting group Plein Air North East and regularly shows his work in regional and national exhibitions.
