Sue Barratt

Sue Barratt is a professional pet portrait artist. Originally from Yorkshire, she now lives in the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle in County Durham where she feels lucky to work from home in a converted studio overlooking stunning countryside. There she creates highly detailed drawings of horses, dogs, cats and wildlife in coloured pencil or pastels.

Sue has only recently come back to art after a career in advertising and design and admits she is loving it! She attended art college back in the day, which included the study of fine art, but admits it feels like a hundred years ago! Her time now is divided between commissions for clients of their much loved pets and horses, working from photographs they supply, and creating original artworks suitable to adorn the walls of beautiful country homes. She also produces limited edition prints.

Sue says, “Now I enjoy the slower pace of life doing something I’m extremely passionate about whilst making the most of life in the countryside - I really am living the dream!”
