André Caig went to school in Barnard Castle where he was a pupil of the highly accomplished Barnard Castle artist Dougie Pittuck. Inspired, he went on to do a Foundation year in Art and Design at Sunderland and, sometime later, studied at the RWA in Bristol, including modules in printing, figure painting and drawing.

He now sketches whilst out and about, developing these studies into oil paintings. André has homes in both Middleton-in-Teesdale and France and the influence of both can be seen in his accomplished painterly work.
