Sarah Nelson
Sarah Nelson is influenced by her previous work as a theatrical set designer. Attracted by dynamic gesture and drama within movement, Sarah draws live, directly from a moving subject. Her work aims to capture an energy and impart to the viewer a feeling of being there.
A temporary studio at the local Middleton auction mart was a serendipitous introduction to the performative aspect of livestock sale days. Her lively drawings stand as works in their own right and also serve as reference for her related painting and printmaking.
Sarah’s work has been exhibited locally as well as extensively in the South East. Highlights include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2022, and the Artist Support Pledge initiative ‘A Generous Space’ at Hastings Contemporary.
Sarah has lived in London, the Middle East, and Rye, East Sussex, recently returning to her native North East to build an eco-home/studio in the nearby village of Woodland.
