Matt Scott

Matt Scott is a self-taught landscape artist originally from Middlesbrough and now residing in Barnard Castle. His work is primarily the depiction of his love affair with the landscapes of Northern England. The inspiration comes while out hiking in nature with his beagle, Charlie, most notably in the areas of Teesdale, the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Lake District.

Matt works in both oil and watercolour, finding the different approaches and techniques of the two media give an interesting contrast. He uses an expressive style to emphasise changes in light and weather. He is particularly interested in the changes of colour and atmosphere seen in nature from season to season.
