Chrissie Day
Chrissie Day is a fibre artist well-known for her innovative knitwear and felting designs. She uses naturally dyed wool fibre, silks, and cotton and takes inspiration for wearable and sculptural art from her Upper Dale landscape to create totally unique pieces.
Chrissie is a writer with ten published titles on knitting, crochet, wire jewellery, and felting, with the latest title currently in final proof. She has appeared on live television and radio and taught masterclasses throughout the UK and Europe. Her functional work fuses her distinctive style with fine design techniques which ensure they are unique. Her inspiration is always nature - the simple leaves and flowers from her self-made gardens, which are always inspirational to her in every season, even rain on stone. She has also been studying the works of Sonia Delauney which intrigue her with their colour and shape placement.
